Origin:

If a vocation were to be represented by a suit. Then, we could safely say that  if that suit is especially made for you, it should have to fit you like a glove. The suit was cut out for you.

Example:

• My son kept saying, when he was a child, that  one day he would become a lawyer. The problem is that he is a very sociable and nice person who wants to help every one. Of course, he realized that his personality doesn´t  match with the attributes that are required to perform that job. He finally  understood that  he was not cut out to be a lawyer.
